Rip-offs

Why is the national news portal - http://www.ddinews.gov.in/ - a blatant rip-off of the BBC news site design?

Harold and Kumar
Dec. 1st, 2008 | 05:21 pm
I was reading an article the other day that compared Pineapple Express (Seth Rogen, James Franco) to Harold and Kumar. Please don't insult Harold and Kumar with such comparisons - as far as stoner movies go, they are right there at the top.

The die is cast

After two half-marathons (one of which you know, and the other which I was too lazy to write about), I had decided to run a full 42 km marathon. Because of my move to the US and a busy work schedule, I could not do it during my first year.
However, a chance posting by a good friend on Facebook sparked my interest again - and when the marathon just happens to be in one of my favourite cities, I have to jump at the opportunity, don't I?
So today I finally registered for Marathon de Montreal. While I ran the half-marathons with little or no practice, I didn't want to do the same for this one. I have been training for the last 1.5 months. While this is by no means enough, my goal - as earlier - is to finish the race. Sundays are when I do my "long" runs, typically 2 hours or more. Last Sunday, I ran close to 23 km in Central Park in under 3 hours. Pretty bad considering we only have 5h45m to finish the marathon ;/
Now if only I can find my bootleg Calvin and Hobbes shirt for good luck... gotta see where I packed it.
Plus there's been some big changes on my other side of life, but I'll save that for another post.

If your credit card was stolen, and you reported it to the issuing bank within 24 hours, do you have any liability insurance?
Before you answer the question, check with your bank's website.

Which fingers do you use most often for alt-tabbing?
With me, it's the thumb and the ring finger (both left hand, of course).

Man saved from croc shot in error

Two shots
Crocodile attacks and shootings are rare in Australia.
To suffer both at once is - to say the least - unfortunate.

It arrived!
Dec. 22nd, 2007 | 05:50 pm
Not sure if any of you saw my post on the C&H Complete Collection sale. Anyway, I ordered mine even before posting that.
The shipment arrived today. Right now my grin is wider than Hobbes'. Best part? I had some 66 bucks in my Amazon gift certificate account, so in effect I paid $1.69 for my collection!

Fifth
Jul. 28th, 2007 | 09:44 pm
I had never seen The Fifth Element until today. For some very strange reason, I thought for a long time that the movie was crap. Consequently, I had not read any of its reviews nor checked out user comments on IMDb.
And today I saw it. 10 years after the movie was released. And you know what? It kicks ass! Nobody but Bruce Willis as Korben Dallas.
On a related note, check out this funny article.

Best men's final at Wimbledon
Jul. 8th, 2007 | 10:09 pm
Well, the votes on the BBC website are in, and the 1980 final between Borg and McEnroe turned out the best of the lot. I voted for the 2001 final between Ivanisevic and Rafter, and I still think that that was the best.

Incidentally, I was the first to break the news to the gadget world. Not that it means anything, but it's funny how the mainstream media is treating this as a newsworthy item. I don't think it's that big a deal, but I guess when "Apple" and "iPhone" are in the same sentence, everyone wants to have a say.

Funny, they never really fixed the slightly crooked logo (created by Gandhi, digitized in Gimp by yours truly):
